In 1912, Zeinab Ameen left her village of Tibnin with her husband and son to open a boarding house in Michigan City, Indiana. The trip would upend her life, sending her to Marseille, Liverpool, Canada, and Mexico, ruining her marriage, making her an enemy of the state, and the subject of public scandal.
In this talk, Dr. Randa Tawil tells the unbelievable story of the life of Zeinab Ameen to explore the experiences of women migrants who must navigate borders, patriarchal control, and their long legacies.

Speaker Bio: Randa Tawil holds a PhD in American Studies from Yale and is a scholar in residence at University of Washington. She is a member of the Palestinian Feminist Collective.
